ABOUT HPC
The Full Story
Since its inception, HPC has had one goal: to work with and help guide athletes to the best version of themselves.
We believe athletic development shouldn’t be limited to the weight room if you want to have the best chance at performance.
Performance coach and owner Gerard started his athletic training journey in Vancouver, Canada - where he was lucky enough to learn and train with an ex-college football player/coach. This is where the interest and love of athletic training began.
Fast forward to now, Gerard and HPC help 100’s of athletes weekly understand and train to become more athletic versions of themselves.
About Gerard
Gerard is an 'athlete first' coach who's had extensive experience connecting and achieving results in a large range of competing athletes.
Over his time as a coach he has successfully developed and set up several athletic development programs with in schools and sporting organisations. Taking pride in his long term approach with youth Gerard spends most of his coaching time investing in young athletes.
Gerard, when not coaching in HPC is a 'Student Athlete Mentor' at his flagship school program Westminster School. Supporting high performing student athletes with workload management, individual athletic development and general advice on all things sport and training.
Consistency + Hard Work + Good Direction
This is Gerard's winning formular which he aims to instill in all the young athletes that he works with.
Our 3 main focuses when training athletes
1. Understanding the WHY behind their exercises
2. Integrate the athlete into the decision-making process
3. Build lasting relationships
About Josh
Josh’s roots as a coach go back a decade when he discovered physical preparation to enhance his own performance as a self-confessed average “ressies” footballer. This passion eventually led to Josh completing a Bachelor of Exercise & Sport Science in 2019 and since undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Rehabilitation for Sports Injuries as his interest and passion into sports injury rehab grew.
Josh has been fortunate enough to work in a very wide variety of spaces and with a range of different roles throughout his career, with some massive highlights throughout; none bigger than the 2019 Glenelg SANFL premiership. Within these roles, Josh has had experience working with recreational athletes all the way through to preparing some of the state’s best, as well as overseeing some of Adelaide’s young developing coaches through mentoring and supervisory roles with UniSA.
Josh’s coaching passions and expertise are in Team Sport Athletic Development and Strength & Conditioning, Individual Load Management, Youth Athletic Development, and Sports Rehabilitation; particularly ACL and soft tissue rehab and his philosophies are centred around developing high levels of independence and self-efficacy, while creating physically and mentally resilient athletes.
Away from HPC, Josh plays amateur league Australian Rules Football, is a keen albeit average golfer, and after ticking off his first half marathon last year, has developed an enjoyment for a cruisy run along the esplanade in the summer months.
In the gym, you’ll likely find Josh engaging in some friendly banter or a chat and is always there to provide an experienced coach’s eye, some life advice or as a yappy coach, a personal anecdote that takes far too long to get to the point.
